Proposed Amendments to the AAPI MSRF Constitution & By-Laws – Article I

Article I – Purposes and Mission Statement.

Section 1.A.i. Purposes

Current:
The AAPI – MSRF is a national organization representing medical, dental studentsand resident physicians of Indian origin in North America.

Proposed:
The AAPI – MSRF is a national organization representing medical, dental and podiatry students and resident physicians of Indian origin in North America.

Section 1.B. Mission Statement

Current:
The AAPI – MSRF is a national organization which will promote the professional,political and social goals of Indian American medical, dental, students and residentand fellow physicians today and in the future.

Proposed:
The AAPI – MSRF is a national organization which will promote the professional, political and social goals of Indian American medical, dental, podiatry students andresident and fellow physicians today and in the future.

Proposed Amendments to the AAPI MSRF Constitution & By-Laws – Article II

Article II – Membership

Section 2.A.i Eligibility

Current:
Medical Student: A student presently enrolled in a medical, dental, or osteopathiccollege that is accredited by the American Medical Association, the AmericanOsteopathic Association or their equivalent.

Proposed:
Medical Student: A student presently enrolled in a medical, dental, podiatry orosteopathic college that is accredited by the American Medical Association, theAmerican Osteopathic Association or their equivalent.

Article III – Executive Committee

Section 3.C.ii Executive Committee Elections

Current:
NONE

Proposed:
Nominations will be called for by December 31st as per the AAPI bylaws and willfollow all the policies of the AAPI bylaws.

Section 3.C.iv Eligibility

Current:
To run for election for Vice-President in the MSRF board, MSRF members should beat least involved with AAPI-MSRF for 1 year and attended fifty percent of meetings per year and must be a medical, dental student, resident physician or fellow ina medical school or osteopathic college in North America or an ECFMG certified institution.

Proposed:
To run for election for Vice-President in the MSRF board, MSRF members should beat least involved with AAPI-MSRF for 1 year and attended fifty percent of meetings per year and must be a medical, dental, podiatry student, resident physician or fellowin a medical school, dental school, podiatry school or osteopathic college in North America or an ECFMG certifi ed institution.

Section 3.D.II. President-Elect – Duties

Current:
NONE

Proposed:
Will serve in the Nomination committee and the convention finance committee.

Section 3.D.III. Vice-President – Duties

Current:
NONE

Proposed:
Will serve in the membership committee of the AAPI and will assist the AAPI Vice President in recruiting members.

Section 3.D.IV. Secretary – Duties

Current:
NONE

Proposed:
Will work with the elected AAPI Secretary.

Section 3.D.V Treasurer – Duties

Current:
Will need to work with MSRF President to approve and sign checks.

Proposed:
Works along with the AAPI- elected treasurer to maintain AAPI -MSRF accounts. Will need to work with MSRF President to approve and sign checks.

Section 3.D.VI. Regional Coordinators – Duties

Current:
NONE

Proposed:
Will work along with the AAPI Regional directors in their region.
