AAPI SPECIAL ELECTIONS

There have been numerous inappropriate, misleading posts in WhatsApp groups and unfounded allegations claiming that the current AAPI special election is undemocratic. However, it’s essential to clarify that the election is being reconducted as a direct result of a stipulated order from the court. This judicial decision arose from concerns that the previous election was conducted improperly, particularly regarding the application of new bylaw amendments and the disqualification of otherwise eligible candidates.

The ruling reflects a commitment to uphold democratic principles by ensuring that all candidates are treated fairly and that the election process adheres to established procedures.

This being a judges stipulated order AAPI had to follow or face contempt of court. However, continuing the model of transparency that we have adopted this year, this was presented to the governing body and was supported by overwhelming majority of the members, further emphasizing that this is not a maneuver to favor any specific candidate but rather a necessary step to correct past irregularities.

Reconvening the election demonstrates a dedication to transparency and integrity within the organization. It reinforces the idea that democratic processes must be respected, and that elections should be conducted in a manner that is fair and just for all participants. This approach not only preserves the legitimacy of the electoral process but also fosters trust among members. It is vital to communicate these points effectively to combat misinformation and promote a clearer understanding of the situation.
